Endosalpingosis as a cause of chronic pelvic pain
Article Abstract:
The case report is presented of a 19-year-old woman who suffered almost constant pelvic pain that was relieved by oral contraceptives. However, the patient developed depression due to this medication, and the oral contraceptives were discontinued. After undergoing another type of hormonal treatment and two laparoscopic examinations (in which surgery was performed under the guidance of a fiberoptic tube inserted into the abdominal cavity through a small incision), endosalpingosis was diagnosed. The patient became pregnant soon after the diagnosis was made, and her pain decreased. Endosalpingosis is a condition in which the cells that normally line the oviduct (fallopian tube; the tube through which the egg travels from ovary to uterus) become located in an abnormal (ectopic) site. These endothelial cells may lodge in the membrane that covers the female organs, the bladder or bowel, and even in the skin. Endosalpingosis usually occurs after tubal surgery, and is rarely associated with symptoms. Its possible causes are listed, and its histological appearance described. This is a benign condition, and symptoms of the severity experienced by this patient are unusual. (Consumer Summary produced by Reliance Medical Information, Inc.)

Short forms of two condition-specific quality-of-life questionnaires for women with pelvic floor disorders (PFDI-20 and PFIQ-7)
Article Abstract:
Short forms of two valid and reliable condition-specific quality-of-life questionnaires for women with disorders of the pelvic floor including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and fecal incontinence (Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory and Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire) are developed. The Pelvic Floor Distress Inventory-20 and Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire-7 are valid, reliable, and responsive short forms of two condition-specifc quality-of-life questionnaires.

Linear measurements in 2-dimensional pelvic floor imaging: the impact of slice tilt angles on measurement reproducibility
Article Abstract:
A two-dimensional image taken from an MRI scan of the pelvis can vary depending on the slice angle during the scan. Some scanning techniques produce an image similar to an anatomic slice through the patient's body. The angle of this slice determines which anatomical features will be visible.
