Estrogen plus progestin and risk of venous thrombosis
Article Abstract:
The final data on incidence of venous thrombosis in the Women's Health Initiatives Estrogen Plus Progestin clinical trial and the association of hormone therapy with venous thrombosis in the setting of other thrombosis risk factors are reported. Estrogen plus progestin was found associated with doubling the risk of venous thrombosis and its therapy was found to increase the risks associated with age, overweight or obesity and factor V Leiden.

Trends in the risks and benefits to patients with cancer participating in phase 1 clinical trials
Article Abstract:
Trends in the rates of treatment-related (toxic) death, objective response, and serious toxicity are determined and the factors associated with these outcomes are identified. It is found that the level of risk experienced by cancer patients who participate in phase 1treatment trials appears to have improved over the 12-year period from 1991 through 2002.
