Expression and regulation of luteinizing hormone/human chorionic gonadotropin receptors in ovarian cancer and its correlation to human chorionic gonadotropin-doxorubicin sensitivity
Article Abstract:
The fact that ovarian cell lines and tissues express gonadotropin receptors, and conjugation of cytostatics to ligands of these receptors may increase the specificity of cytotoxic drugs is analyzed. The study concluded that cytotoxic activity of doxorubicin was increased by conjugation to human chorionic gonadotropin and that the regulation of luteinizing hormone/human chorionic gonadotropin receptor expression and other compounds may reduce the drug-uptake of the conjugates.

In vitro expression of the diphtheria toxin A-chain gene under the control of human chorionic gonadotropin gene promoters as a means of directing toxicity to ovarian cancer cell lines
Article Abstract:
It appears that ovarian cancer cells can be targeted using human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to mediate the delivery of the diptheria toxin A-chain (DT-A) gene. Ovarian cancer cells were artificially infected with cellular structures called plasmids containing hCG promoters and DT-A. Protein production was reduced by as much as 89% in ovarian cells infected with these plasmids. Increasing levels of DT-A destroyed increasing amounts of ovarian cancer cells.

Role of hysteroscopy in detection and extraction of endometrial polyps: results of a prospective study
Article Abstract:
Hysteroscopy can be used to detect endometrial polyps so surgeons can remove them. Hysteroscopy allows surgeons to look inside the uterus through a small incision in the abdomen. In a study of 83 women, hysteroscopy was used to detect endometrial polyps, which were removed by a D&C and Randall forceps.
