Feeding babies with cleft lip and palate
Article Abstract:
There are only 1,000 babies born in the UK each year with a cleft lip or palate, and this means that many health professionals are unfamiliar with the condition and unable to advise parents appropriately. It is important to be aware that parents may be shocked and frightened, and to ensure that the baby can be fed as normally as possibly. The best sources of advice on coping with cleft lip and palate are the 57 specialist teams across the country and the Cleft Lip and Palate Association. There are a number of specialist bottles available to help babies with sucking problems.

Article Abstract:
Water is a vital resource but its safe supply is increasingly threatened. Demand for water doubles every 21 years and depletion leads to algal blooms in water. Pesticides also contaminate water supplies. In some areas of the world there is old equipment with insufficient skills or finance to make improvements. In other areas wars cause problems. The United Nations Environment Agency estimates that 1.4 billion people do not have a safe water supply. This leads to a range of diseases and to the death of 25,000 children every day.
