Health care lottery
Article Abstract:
Many observers feel that Mandy Allwood, who is expecting eight babies, has been very unwise in deciding to continue to carry all eight babies. However, Solihull Health Authority has decided to go along with her right to choose, and will now pay 500,000 pounds sterling for specialist obstetric care for her in London, England. This decision has attracted considerable controversy, especially since it is extremely unlikely that all eight babies will be delivered safely.

The launch of the new Patient's Charter, coincided with an assault by Dr John Yates, who claimed that consultants are spending too much time of private work, to the detriment of their NHS patients.
