Crucial choices
Article Abstract:
Two rulings on medical ethics have implications for nurses and question the relevance of the United Kingdom Central Council (UKCC) Code of Professional Conduct. Nursing ethics expert, David Carpenter manintains the Code may be interpreted in different ways. He suggests nurses will make personal decisions rather than refer to the code of conduct. However, UKCC Assistant Registrar maintains the code provides guidance in resolving dilemmas. It does not attempt to cover all eventualities.
