Gastric bypass: Surgery's role in treating obesity

The prescribed diet and exercise regimen might not provide significant difference in weight reduction, and due to other health problems associated with overweight, doctors recommend weight-reduction surgery, generally known as bariatric surgery. The most common surgery is gastric bypass, which involves creating a small pouch from the top of the stomach, and to bypass a majority of the stomach.
