Genes that heal body co-opted by breast tumor to promote cancer's spread
Article Abstract:
An analysis on genetic and survival data from breast cancer revealed that those whose tumors expressed wound-response gene signature were less likely to be alive in 10 years and less likely to live without having developed distant metastases in that time compared with patients whose tumors did not express this signature. When the breast cancer database was analyzed, the tumor samples revealed predominant expression of either serum-induced or serum-repressed genes.

Tool helps cancer scientists mine genes
Article Abstract:
A need for devices which can screen for the activity of thousands of genes simultaneously was felt by researchers which would be essential to understand the roles played by specific genes in cancer and other diseases. But researchers find it very difficult in collecting data, hence, new devices like the Oncomine by Arul Chinnaiyan has shown them easier ways.

Breast cancer gene chip study under way: can new technology help predict treatment success?
Article Abstract:
TRANS-BIG, a translational research network that is the expansion of the Breast International Group (BIG), is testing the use of DNA chips to help determine therapies for lymph node-negative breast cancer patients. The clinical value of this new DNA chips are examined.
