Geriatrics: new views on old woes
Article Abstract:
From physician assistants there are some new views on old woes of geriatrics. In the health care community, as in the general public, old age is seen as a time of disability and decline, likely because the healthcare professional is trained to look for disease rather than to look at the positive side of aging. For physician assistants, Medicare reimburses at 85% of the rate for physicians in long-term-care facilities. Baby boomers are going to demand good care, so the elderly are not likely to be left out as a result of cost cutting.
