A 67-year-old woman with the cauda equina syndrome
Article Abstract:
Lymphomas and other cancers may invade the nervous system and produce pain and dysfunction from spinal cord compression. Clinicians describe a case of a woman with cauda equina syndrome, which is pain from nerve compression at the base of the spine, to illustrate clinical and pathological manifestations. The women was hospitalized for back pain and leg weakness in the presence of significant chronic disease. Diagnostic imaging revealed a lung mass, and spinal compression and hemorrhage. She was diagnosed with lymphoma, and autopsy revealed significant cancer in the spine and abdominal organs.

Acute vestibular syndrome
Article Abstract:
Acute vestibular syndrome is characterized by severe dizziness, nausea and vomiting and difficulty standing. It is caused by injury to the middle ear. Some of the symptoms are similar to those that occur during a stroke. Neurologic tests can distinguish between the two conditions. Imaging of the brain can also rule out a stroke, and MRI scans and angiography are the best techniques. In healthy people, acute vestibular syndrome usually resolves spontaneously.
