Group interpersonal psychotherapy for depression in rural Uganda: a randomized controlled trial
Article Abstract:
Group psychotherapy may be beneficial for people in rural Africa who are depressed, according to a study of 224 villagers in Uganda. About half were not treated and the other half participated in 90-minute group psychotherapy sessions once a week for 16 weeks. At the end of the study, those who received no treatment were 17 times more likely to be depressed than those who did.
