Would clinical nutrition benefit from meta-analyses and trials registers?
Article Abstract:
Reviews of research papers in nutrition is prone to a degree of subjectivity as reviewers cannot be expected to be aware of every paper in the field. A path towards choosing worthy papers for publication is through meta-analysis, which requires identification of all relevant trials, assessment of each trial and synthesis of all the findings. This prescribed process for a critical review is a systematic team effort and requires answers to specific questions.

Meta-analysis: effect of exercise, with or without dieting, on the body composition of overweight subject
Article Abstract:
A linear regression analysis study of weight loss and reduction in fat-free mass in 916 exercising and non-exercising groups of men and women revealed that aerobic exercise induces average weight loss in people not on diets. People on diets and indulging in aerobics have enhanced glycogen and water levels, which aids in conserving their fat-free mass during weight loss.
