Guilt complex
Article Abstract:
A daughter recounts her personal experiences of caring for an elderly mother with dementia. She describes the emotions she experienced, the connection between these feelings and the relationship she had had with her father, and the guilt she felt after her mother's death. The mother eventually consented to have respite care, but a fall during her time in care preceded her physical decline and eventual death.

Diary of a carer
Article Abstract:
The diary of an Alzheimer patient's wife reveals the debilitating effect of mood and behaviour change on the caregiver. Unpredictable behaviour proved most stressful. The carer experienced resentment and anger as well as sadness at the loss of a companion. However, regular hospital respite care and controlling medication enabled her to continue providing care at home.
