Article Abstract:
Congress ordered a temporary ban on physician billing of Medicare or Medicaid for patients treated at any new specialty hospital in which the doctor has a financial interest, as part of the Medicaid reform legislation passed in November 2003. Medicaid reform is waiting on Medicare pact
Article Abstract:
Medicaid has outperformed Medicare as the largest government health program and is expected to exceed Medicare by $4 billion in 2003. The differences between the bills are being worked out in the conference committee, as the House version of Medicare reform would extend a drug benefit to patients covered by Medicaid, while the SenateEs legislation would not.
