HIV-1 neutralizing antibodies: How full is the bottle?
Article Abstract:
The authors discuss research using neutralizing antibodies to prevent HIV infection. While they can, in fact, completely protect monkeys from Simian HIV, that degree of protection needs antibodies more potent than any which have yet been used on either monkeys or humans.

Vaccines and the induction of functional antibodies: time to look beyond the molecules of natural infection?
Article Abstract:
Many infectious organisms do not produce a strong immune response when they infect people. Therefore vaccines can no longer be based on the intact organism. Instead, researchers must find specific microbial antigens that can be blocked by monoclonal antibodies.

gp41: HIV's shy protein
Article Abstract:
The X-ray crystal structure of gp41, the protein responsible for the fusion of HIV-1 and target cells, provides an insight to the viral entry and mechanism of action of compounds blocking fusion. The first drug design to inhibit fusion is documented.
