Article Abstract:

The Office of Fair Trading has begun an enquiry into the management of care homes, looking particularly into issues such as contracts, complaints procedures, how residents' money is managed, and also how much residents are told before entering the homes. There is also concern that residents may not be getting value for money. Home owners have criticized the report as unnecessary, however, groups such as Age Concern and Help the Aged have been more positive because the enquiry promises to ask for residents' opinions, which does not usually happen.

Glossing over the risks

Article Abstract:

UK magazines for young people are failing to give helpful information on the issue of HIV and AIDS. These magazines are the main source of safe sex advice for 70% of adolescents, according to a Brook Advisory survey. However, an examination of one month's magazines revealed that news and feature articles did not mention safe sex issues at all, and the five agony aunt replies which broached the issue did so in the context of pregnancy risk.
