A celebration of ageing

The International Day of Older Persons was established in 1991 by the UN and it provides a good opportunity to focus on elder health worldwide. An event planned in Rio de Janeiro is sponsored by groups such as the Brazilian Olympic Committee. It will feature a group walk along Copacabana Beach.

Aging well!
Article Abstract:
The aged need not be classified as disabled if they are able to perform certain functions, which depends on definitions in their culture. Choices must be made before the onset of old age to help secure a healthy one. Chronic poverty is one of the largest challenges to aging well.

Article Abstract:
Migration is a special hardship for the elderly, whether they are forced to leave their own country or are left behind when younger family members migrate. The effect of migration on the elderly is an issue that needs to be addressed by national and international agencies.
