Pet therapy
Article Abstract:
Associating with animals is known to have a beneficial effect on owners both psychologically and physically. Researchers have discovered pet ownership can help patients suffering cardiac problems by relieve stress which in turn reduces blood pressure and the risk of further complications associated with the heart. Dog owners were found to benefit psychologically, with both self-esteem and anxiety being affected. Therapeutic benefits of animal ownership have resulted in patients spending less time in hospitals and a sense of general well being in older patients.
