Program teaches minority doctors to teach
Article Abstract:
The Morehouse School of Medicine has introduced its Faculty Development Program to increase the number of African American physicians teaching family medicine. The aim of the program is to encourage African American medical students to serve underserved patients in cities and rural areas by presenting them with role models of their own ethnicity. African Americans constitute less than 1% of the medical school faculties specializing in family medicine.

JAMA debuts page to help doctors educate patients
Article Abstract:
The Journal of the American Medical Association's new 'Patient Page' will debut in the journal's Apr 22/29, 1998, issue. JAMA editor George D. Lundberg indicated that the page, which will appear in every issue, will present information in a patient-friendly way. The page will cover information present in one of the same issue's original research articles.
