Profiling familial breast cancer
Article Abstract:
This article examines the use of microarray analysis to distinguish gene expression patterns between different types of tumors, including breast cancer tumors caused by mutations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Issues discussed concern how this technology can be used in a clinical setting.

Breast cancer genetics: what we know and what we need
Article Abstract:
Research presented concerns genetic predisposition to breast cancer, focusing on how numerous high and low-penetrance susceptibility alleles may cumulatively work to predispose individuals to breast cancer. Efforts to identify additional susceptibility alleles in addition to gene mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 are described.

Identification of MMP-1 as a putative breast cancer predictive marker by global gene expression analysis
Article Abstract:
The gene expression analysis of atypical ductal hyperplastic tissues from patients with and without a history of breast cancer is reported. The MMP-1 is identified as candidate marker that may be useful for identification of breast lesions that can develop into cancer.
