Imagination
Article Abstract:
All the possibilities of life exist in one's own imagination. Imagination has made all human achievements possible, whether they are in the arts or sciences, or other areas of human endeavor. The source of the imagination is decidedly complex and probably beyond complete understanding by science. The only limitations placed upon the imagination come from the outside. Use of the imagination appears to peak between the ages of two and five and then for some reason is suppressed as we get older. It is often replaced by boredom, something that life should never be. The imagination is like the unexercised body that can be reinvigorated with exercise. There are a number of things that one can do to reawaken the imagination. These include studying the wonders of life, such as nature and artistic achievements, being curious about things and exploring them, sharing ideas with others, allowing yourself to play and tinker, and making happiness the goal of your life. The dormant imagination can be awakened. (Consumer Summary produced by Reliance Medical Information, Inc.)

A garden of the imagination
Article Abstract:
Staff at Woodfield Nursery for children with severe learning difficulties in Oldham, England, have worked extremely hard to create a sensory garden. This project was prompted by the success of an existing sensory room. It was decided to create areas of touch, colour, smell, taste and sound that would allow the children to be stimulated and to experience being outdoors. It was found that the children's responses are enhanced by being outdoors and that the garden can also be used for sensory activities that would otherwise take place indoors.
