Improving practice through a system of clinical supervision

Heath care organizations have a responsibility to ensure that their staff are sufficiently developed to enable practitioners to provide an appropriate standard of care. Nurses need support in the development of their practice, which could be provided through clinical supervision.

Using the Liverpool Care Pathway in a nursing home
Article Abstract:
The Liverpool Care Pathway, which provides evidence-based guidelines relating to the care of dying patients can be used as a template for education within the nursing homes. A pilot project to introduce it to a 150-bed BUPA nursing home is outlined.

The introduction of free care in nursing homes requires that, patients' needs for care be placed in an appropriate band known as registered nursing contribution to care (RNCC). Determination of RNCC is an integral part of the care planning process.
