Article Abstract:
Passage of federal health insurance reform legislation has resulted in most states revising their laws to conform with the new federal law. Minor changes had to be made in the small group market, no changes had to be made in the large group market but several changes have had to made in the individual market. Dueling proposals for kids' health insurance; lawmakers seeking plan everyone can live with
Article Abstract:
Senate and House conferees have been negotiating the differences in health insurance plans for children in the US. Critics believe the House insurance plan is structured too loosely and is underfunded at $16 bil over a period of five years. An extra $8 bil is provided for in the Senate proposal, with funding from cigarette taxes, which is favored by the Children's Defense Fund and other children's advocates.
