'Industrial athletes' work out accidents, injuries
Article Abstract:
Waste Management, the world's largest trash hauler, has converted its truck drivers into 'athletes' in the workplace and in doing so, has made its operating centers safer. By adopting Workout, Leap Technologies' business-improvement process, the company has been able to delegate responsibility and tools to enable employee work groups to address workplace problems and implement changes. By improving on safety practices, the company has been able to lessen incidents by 15%, as well as the accompanying per-incident cost of lost workdays.
