Intrapartum maternal glycemic control in women with insulin requiring diabetes: A randomized clinical trial of rotating fluids versus insulin drip
Article Abstract:
A randomized clinical trial was conducted on laboring women with insulin requiring diabetes to evaluate whether continuous insulin infusion provides a greater degree of maternal intrapartum glycemic control than rotating intravenous fluids between glucose containing and non-glucose containing fluids. Results suggest that intrapartum glycemic control in patients with insulin requiring gestational diabetes is comparable with a standard adjusted insulin drip or a rotation of intravenous fluids between glucose and non-glucose containing fluids.

The use of progestational agents for preterm birth: Lessons from a mouse model
Article Abstract:
A mouse model of localized intrauterine inflammation is developed to examine the ability of the progestational agent 17-alpha hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17-P) to decrease preterm birth in high-risk women as effectively as medroxyprogesterone acetate (MPA). Results demonstrate that in the setting of intrauterine inflammation, 17-P is associated with significant maternal morbidity, and should not be administered to patients having subclinical infection and/or acute preterm labor.

Glyburide for the management of gestational diabetes: Risk factors predictive of failure and associated pregnancy outcomes
Article Abstract:
The characteristics that might predict failure of glyburide therapy for the management of A2 gestational diabetes were identified and the pregnancy outcomes of women who fail glyburide therapy were compared to those who are successfully managed with glyburide. Findings indicated that prediction of glyburide therapy failure is difficult, but failure did not seem to be associated with increased adverse pregnancy outcomes.
