Investigating accidents: legal duty or wishful thinking?
Article Abstract:
Employers should be legally required to examine workplace accidents and change safety management procedures to prevent the accident from recurring, says Occupational Safety Adviser for RoSPA Roger Bibbings. HSC has introduced a discussion document to consider such legislation, with employers then having a duty to ascertain their safety failings. Independent inspectors would still carry out formal investigations of serious accidents.
