Is bank nursing under threat?
Article Abstract:
Thousands of nurses, struggling to get by on their basic salary, rely on bank shifts as unofficial 'overtime', and for many of them, it has become a way of life more than a lifesaver. But the future of the bank looks uncertain as some trusts are adopting cost-saving measures by setting up pools or a bench of nurses who are deployed to different wards as and when they are needed, and if found successful, this system would replace the bank and could be adopted by other trusts.

Agenda for Change (AfC) is a reality for many nurses but an initiative originally is designed to improve their pay and the conditions have left many dissatisfied and most of the nurses are unhappy with pay and conditions. The views of the nurses are as valid as that of anyone else and could be representative of other nurses who have not spoken up yet about their experience.
