Article Abstract:
The approaches to Africa's problems on tsetse flies and trypanosomiasis were analyzed. Trypanosomes are transmitted among mammals by blood sucking tsetse flies causing African sleeping sickness in humans. Moreover, the trypanosomes also cause 'nagana,' a devastating disease in cattle. The various methods used to control tsetse flies and trypanosomiasis, such as game and bush clearing, insecticides, release of sterile males, chemotherapy and others have largely been unsuccessful due to the lack of consultation with the villagers directly affected by the disease.
