It's a violent country; prevention remains a priority for the AMA
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Assn (AMA) has released a report on violence in the US that gives the country a 'D.' As part of the AMA's Physicians' Campaign Against Violence, the AMA Task Force on Violence studied peer-reviewed reports and compiled grades for four categories of violence, including family violence, sexual assault, public violence and virtual violence, or violence portrayed in the media. The AMA Board of Trustees has made violence prevention its top priority.

Land of (too much) opportunity
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association and five other groups want the government to address a looming oversupply of physicians by cutting Medicare funding for medical residency training programs. The reductions should mean an end to subsidies for the training of international students. Approximately 40% of first-year residency students are foreign graduates, and approximately 75% of the international students remain in the US to practice medicine.
