JAMA-EXPRESS: Rapid Peer Review and Publication
Article Abstract:
The editors of JAMA have instituted a means for rapidly publishing articles of major importance. JAMA-EXPRESS stands for EXpedited Peer Review and Editorial System for Science. The editors promise to publish all eligible manuscripts six weeks after their submission and may publish them on the JAMA web site four weeks after submission. JAMA-EXPRESS will be most useful for scientists who are planning to report their findings at a scientific meeting. The publication of the article can be timed to coincide with the meeting announcement. Authors are required to contact JAMA before they send a manuscript for EXPRESS processing.

Access to JAMA
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association will provide free access to its magazine on its web site rather than charging authors a fee to cover the cost of online access. The Public Library of Science charges authors of reports $1,500 for each posted report. However, many authors may not be able to afford to pay a fee to provide online access to their reports.
