Just fading away?: The closing of Walter Reed
Article Abstract:
The Defense Base Reallocation and Closure (BRAC) Commission in 2005 has decided to close the venerable Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Experts working with the BRAC are predicting a new Walter Reed that would feature state-of-the-art programs in the treatment and management of amputations and other disabling injuries, mental health disorders related to warfare, and gunshot, burn, and radionuclear wounds.
