Keeping a high profile
Article Abstract:
The post-registration education and practice (PREP) policy of the UKCC policy document, currently undergoing final consultation, requires nurses to keep a professional profile recording professional development. It also requires them to show they are maintaining and developing their professional knowledge and competence. Such a profile is also required by the ENB's Framework and Higher Award, which helps health visitors, midwives and nurses to obtain a degree in their own speciality. Advice is given on the content and updating of a professional profile.

Leadership challenge. (nursing recruitment)
Article Abstract:
Financial incentives have often been prominent in the early months of 1996 to increase nursing recruitment. Different trusts experience different problems in recruiting some types of staff, particularly those in specialties. The current nursing staff shortage appears to be due to lack of personnel management, poor leadership and complacency.
