Article Abstract:
Growth factors that stimulate angiogenesis could be used to create collateral blood vessels in patients with ischemic conditions. One such factor is vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which was studied in a rabbit model of ischemic peripheral neuropathy.

Angiopoietin-1 (Ang1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) could be useful in treating diseases caused by dysfunctional blood vessels. Both proteins are involved in angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels.
