Klausner quits

The author reports that Richard Klausner, a director of the National Cancer Institute is going to quit his job to lead a theoretical organization within the Case Foundation. As a head of the new Case Institute Mr. Klausner will coordinate a program aimed at linking biology, nano- and micro-technology and chemistry and information sciences to transform health, disease and environmental research.

The author discusses Ralph Steinman, a graduate from Harvard Medical School who has devoted his life to the immunology research and cell biology of the phagocytic cells which has lead him to the discovery of the dendritic cells. Almost 30 years after discovering them Mr. Steinman is seeing dendritic cells take center stage.
