Knowledge about vaccine trials and willingness to participate in an HIV/AIDS vaccine study in the Ugandan military
Article Abstract:
Many people in developing countries might be willing to participate in an AIDS vaccine trial if they are taught about vaccines and how medical research is done. This was the conclusion of a study of 1,182 Ugandan soldiers, who said the most important reason for participating in the trial was to be protected from HIV infection.

Developing AIDS vaccine trials educational programs in Uganda
Article Abstract:
It may be necessary to assess the knowledge of a population before recruiting people to participate in studies of AIDS vaccines. A survey of 1,182 men in Uganda found that many did not know much about clinical trials and had misconceptions about the nature of vaccines.

Immunogenicity of recombinant envelope glycoproteins derived from T-cell line-adapted isolates or primary HIV isolates: a comparative study using multivalent vaccine approaches
Article Abstract:
A multivalent AIDS vaccine that contains several HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins does not appear to be more effective than monovalent AIDS vaccines. This will make the search for an effective AIDS vaccine more challenging.
