Lawful conduct
Article Abstract:
Barrister Lee Moore provides training for nurses on being an expert witness in legal cases. The demand for UK nurses to act as expert witnesses is increasing with the growth in litigation by both patients and nurses. The prospect of appearing in court may be intimidating, but the financial rewards for doing so are attractive, and nurses are proving keen to undertake the training. The training can also be intimidating, as Moore uses role play to get across the message of what it will be like in court, but trainees found the experience very valuable.

Painful ignorance
Article Abstract:
Nurses involved in work with cancer patients are often not aware of all the medication options for pain management, according to charity CancerBACUP. It is vital that nurses and patients know about the drugs available and about the ways of administering pain relief. In particular, nurses must be aware that use of opioids does not create addiction.
