Living with the effects of child sexual abuse
Article Abstract:
Forty-five-year-old Sarah Goodwin is not unusual in blaming herself for the sexual abuse which she suffered as a child and which has resulted in her undergoing 30 years of expensive psychiatric therapy. There have been few changes in Goodwin's symptoms since she was first admitted to a psychiatric hospital at the age of 15, and depression has been the most consistent of the numerous diagnoses made of her condition. Nurses should be aware that patients may express the pain of childhood sexual abuse in unexpected ways.

Living with kidney dialysis
Article Abstract:
Nurses play an important role in decisions involving their patients with end-stage renal failure. Nurses must make decisions about treatment and when to stop treatment. Long-term dialysis care costs the health service dearly, so the number of kidney transplants should be increased. The patient is reliant on the carer for home dialysis.
