Looking good
Article Abstract:
Part of the rehabilitation process following injury or disease is attention to the physical appearance of the patient. Prostheses, wigs and camouflage make-up can be used to overcome problems such as loss of hair, disfigurement and loss of limbs or breasts. Nurses should be trained to help patients with such difficulties to offer them information and practical advice. A variety of services, both voluntary and public health, exist for advice and guidance on suitability and availability of appropriate products.

Starring role
Article Abstract:
Delegates at the International Nursing Congress, Quality in Nursing: Realities and Vision, held in Athens in June 1995, were told that modern nurses are underexposed in the media compared to their latter-day counterparts. Research into old newsreels and archive films of past epidemics and medical emergencies reveal that nurses had a higher public profile compared to recent epidemics where nurses and their skills are often shown as being unimportant and invisible.
