Loss of smell tied to nutritional, immune issues
Article Abstract:
Older adults are at a greater risk for food poisoning, immunological problems and nutritional problems because many of them lose their sense of taste and smell. Aged diabetics may lose their sense of sweet taste and consume sugar while the aged with high blood pressure may lose their sense of salt taste and fail to comply to salt restrictions. The loss of these senses may cause others to lose their interest in eating and lose weight and increase the threat of disease.
