Make changes in system now to cover the uninsured
Article Abstract:
The California Medical Association's ballot proposal for Affordable Basic Care (ABC) would aid uninsured Californians. The program would provide health care for employees or the dependents of employees, which includes 75% of the six million uninsured Californians. Currently, many rely on emergency room treatment alone, and the unpaid expenses are passed on to paying patients. Insurers must halt the practices of only insuring the healthiest patients and excluding entire industries from health coverage.

Cancer patients warned of need to be good consumers
Article Abstract:
Cancer patients should be cautious when choosing a health care provider, in light of the complex exigencies of cancer and the economically-driven nature of the health care industry. Some imperatives that indicate sufficient quality of care include health care plans that encourage and facilitate reciprocity with patients as well as cancer care standards that are contingent upon quality instead of cost and cancer-oriented benefits.
