Article Abstract:
An improved health care environment can have positive and therapeutic benefits to the patients and also help in recruitment and retention of staff. The King's Fund launched such a program in 2000, 'Enhancing the Healing Environment', in which health care environment could be improved by the use of light, color, art, and design.

Handful of 8,000 eligible HCAs join up

The Royal College of Nurses has brought in 151 health care assistants (HCAs) and two nurse cadets since its membership was extended on April 1, 2001. The college has made associate membership available to around 8,000 HCAs.
