Male order nursing: Research confirms what women have known all along - that men in nursing, although in the minority, get the best jobs and salaries
Article Abstract:
The government has extended its recruitment drive to include men's magazines, in an attempt to increase the numbers of men entering nursing. Research shows that men are more likely to have senior, high-earning nursing posts than women, and that women are just as interested in their careers as men, but do not expect promotion. Obstacles to women's career progression include a lack of flexibility and taking career breaks to have children.
