Workers-comp update
Article Abstract:
Ergonomics allows for work efficiency while promoting comfort and preventing work-related injuries. A computer-workstation setup should be properly installed to prevent possible injuries to the upper extremities and back. Monitors should be placed as far away from the user as possible below eye level to prevent eye muscle strain. The keyboard and the mouse should be pushed back farther to provide support to the forearm. The work surface should be higher than the elbow level. The chair should allow for foot rests on the floor. Accessories such as wrist and palm rests can also be used.

Workers-comp update
Article Abstract:
Office furniture manufacturers have come out with ergonomic desk chairs since 1994. Herman Miller of Zeeland, MI, offers chairs in small, medium and large sizes while chairs by Norwegian firm HAG feature a seat-depth adjustment which allows seat pans to be moved forward and backward to suit different thigh lengths. The development of ergonomic chairs has been fueled by the growing work force diversity, which has created a need for chairs that suit the diverse physical characteristics of employees.

Workers-comp update
Article Abstract:
Injured workers can be profitably utilized by assigning them temporary light-duty work which could earn them full wages. This measure would be a more favorable alternative to workers' compensation payments which only provides employees with 66% of their normal wages. Managers are the best source of ideas for light-duty jobs. Such jobs should be able to make recovery for an employee fast and easy. They should not be looked upon as a new permanent position.
