Malone urges trusts to find quick pay deal solutions
Article Abstract:
Health trusts are being urged to act quickly and offer local pay deals of 1.5%-3% or else the Pay Review Body may completely change direction on local pay schemes, says Health Minister Gerald Malone. However, all the nursing unions are angered by the conditions that have been attached to the pay awards already announced. Offers have been indicated by 185 of the 520 trusts, with 146 of the offers worth 3% or higher. Managers are being warned not to impose unpopular pay deals.

NHS personnel chief sounds pay deal alert
Article Abstract:
Personnel chief of the National Health Service (NHS), Ken Jarrold, is encouraging trusts to offer nurses local instead of national pay deals. However, Jarrold has expressed his intent not to support any trust which awards locally-negotiated deals only to those nurses on trust contracts. Jarrold expects the different trusts to produce fair, affordable and understandable pay packages.

RCN out on a limb as unions accept deal
Article Abstract:
Organisations representing nurses, midwives and health visitors have accepted a national framework agreement for salaries. The RCN is likely to be the only group to oppose the deal. The split between the RCN and Unison over pay is now being seen in professions connected with healthcare, where staff representatives are shortly to vote on whether to accept their pay deal.
