An account is given of the warning issued by the manufacturers of Crestor or statin to medical practitioners not to over-prescribe the suggested initial dosage of the drug, which reduces cholesterol, as it is capable of producing a fatal muscle ailment. This decision to curb the use of the drug is taken by the UK and the USA, based on many patients experiencing muscle disorder rhabdomyolysis, and some succumbing to it.
