Patients' and nurses' views of being well at discharge
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the differences between nurse and patient ratings of symptom severity in acute mental health admission units during impatient care an at the point of discharge. Results indicated that although both objective and self-rating scales showed significant improvements at the point of discharge compared with admission, the patients were not asymptomatic, particularly from a self-rating point of view, and almost forty percent of patients experienced suicidal thoughts at the time of discharge.
