Mass immunisation: for and against
Article Abstract:
Health visitor Helen Bedford defends the view that mass immunisation must occur to protect people from the harmful effects of infectious diseases. She agrees that experts should monitor adverse reactions to vaccination, and that it would be wrong to vaccinate some children. However, she maintains that research shows that immunisation is effective. Naturopath Terry Moule argues that, whilst vaccination is important as a short-term response to unusual conditions, it is more important for society to promote real health through lifestyle changes so that individuals can fight infection naturally.

Rubella and the MMR vaccine
Article Abstract:
Rubella is often thought of as disease of childhood that has few complications, however congenial rubella resulting from transmission from mother to baby during pregnancy can result in multiple severe defects. There are concerns about the uptake of the MMR vaccine and any outbreak of rubella should affect disproportionately minority groups in the UK, who might not have had the vaccine.

Measles, mumps and rubella-safety of the combined vaccine
Article Abstract:
The reasons for the introduction of measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) are discussed and different views are provided for its safety measures and problems associated with using single vaccines. Although scientific evidence shows no support for a link between combined measles, mumps and rubella vaccine (MMR) and autism or bowel problems, many parents remain worried.
