Maternal corticotropin-releasing hormone levels in the early third trimester predict length of gestation in human pregnancy
Article Abstract:
Placental corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) may regulate the timing of labor by affecting the physiology of parturition or as an indicator of antepartum risk for preterm delivery. Elevated CRH is associated with preterm labor and delivery, independent of antepartum risk. Maternal plasma samples were collected from 63 women, with radioimmunoassay used to determine concentrations of CRH.

Placental corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH), spontaneous preterm birth and fetal growth restriction: A prospective investigation
Article Abstract:
Placental corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) is understood to be an endocrine mediator of parturition and possibly of fetal development. Studies indicate that for deliveries occurring after 33 weeks' gestation, CRH may play an impending role in the physiology of parturition and fetal growth.

When stress happens matters: effects of earthquake timing on stress responsivity in pregnancy
Article Abstract:
Pregnant women are less sensitive to stress in the later stages of pregnancy. This was the conclusion of researchers who studied 40 pregnant women who experienced the Northridge, California earthquake of 1994 during their pregnancy.
