Measured pace
Article Abstract:
St Matthew's Hospital, Staffordshire, England has introduced a measured outcome model of psychiatric patient care. A multi-disciplinary approach aims to improve patient quality of life by identifying and achieving reasonable goals. Outcomes are measured against a baseline to assess success. Problems are prioritised and targets established. The project has challenged established practice and questioned preconceptions of age-related problems.

General reflections. (general nursing)
Article Abstract:
A patient who has had to use psychiatric services during the past 15 years, describes her first encounter with general nursing when undergoing a hysterectomy operation. The experience was more postive compared to the previous psychiatric care, and the patient had confidence in the general nursing staff. The patient believes that the element of tender loving care in general nursing, is lessened in mental health nursing.
