Medicine tells states: time to pay fair share of Medicare co-pays
Article Abstract:
Doctors and medical societies are placing pressure on state and federal governments to cover co-payments and deductibles for low-income Medicare patients. Reports indicate that doctors have been forced to absorb 20% of the cost of treating low-income disabled and elderly Medicare beneficiaries. Organized medicine is supported in its efforts by several court rulings in favor of doctors.
